CLIP STUDIO PAINT PRO/EX : LINK
Downloadable resources (for CLIP - like brushes, etc.): LINK
OP: My new best friend. Very versatile like photoshop and helpful to making comics/manga. Customizable UI and easy to pick up if you're familiar with other art programs. Sometimes goes on sale around the fall season for real cheap (15$ like right now).
PAINT TOOL SAI : LINK
OP: Strong for illustration. Very natural inking and great for watercolor. Don't get a hacked version else you won't get neato features like pop out panels, transparent .png files, or installing brushes. Please buy it! Paint Tool Sai 2 is currently in beta!!
GIMP : LINK (free)
OP: I only used GIMP for a short time when i started digital art. It's a free alternative to photoshop and can be as powerful once you have an idea on how to use it. Even if it is free, don't underestimate what you can do with it.
FIREALPACA : LINK (free)
OP: I used FireAlpaca to save transparent .pngs for me because SAI wouldn't. It's easy for beginners to pick up, and I have created some art work with it. It's good if you want something similar to SAI!
MEDIBANG : LINK (free)
Opinion: I've been interested in using this since I saw a friend of mine tweet about it. She said on her twitter that it draws like SAI. To me, from first glance, it looks like a sweet alternative for CLIP. It may be a bit gimmicky though.
GRAPHICSGALE : LINK (free)
OP: A pixel art program. Been meaning to use it for a while to make sprites for vidya gams but haven't gotten around to it. I have, however, watched people use it and it provides a lot of power for pixel art!
SCULPTRIS : LINK (free)
OP: Basically the free version of ZBrush. The only set back is that you can't save it as a ... editable sculpting file to return to later when you open up the file again. It was fun trying this out if you wanted to dig your hands in digital sculpting!
KRITA : LINK (free)
OP: The first i heard of this program was through twitch! Watching how it works for a bit (as i casually lurk in streams), it seems really good for sketching and concept art!
PISKELAPP : LINK (free)
OP: Pixel art program online! Also offers offline downloadable. You can make pixel animations with it.
HELPFUL ART RESOURCES
COLORPICKER : LINK
OP: I mainly use this for color codes in order to customize websites. Also provides complement colors!
COLORHEXA : LINK
OP: Useful for both picking out color codes and creating a palette! Also provides shades. I like this a lot.
CANVA: LINK
OP: I checked out this site out of recommendation of a message I received through here and wow!! What a colorful site! I spent time playing around with the options, and they really provide insight on color itself, combinations, and tones. Upon further exploration, they even offer guidance on graphic design. They provide templates for many kinds of resources such as logos, web banners, etc.
ADOBE COLOR WHEEL : LINK
OP: Very helpful if you're looking to make color palettes for anything. You can pick through different swatches to create multiple palettes! I've been trying to get in the habit of using it.
POLYGON MAP GENERATION : LINK
OP: If you ever plan on making a map of a world, you could use this to give you ideas on shapes of land masses or islands. There's a 3D view too!
ANIMAL SKELETONS (provided by CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCE) : LINK
OP: If you ever need help drawing animal heads, maybe you can find the skeleton of it here! There's plenty of different heads in this gallery and you can move the head around in any angle!
POSEMANIACS : LINK
OP: There's a plethora of poses to use here, along with different body sizes/male vs female anatomy and others! which.. i haven't checked out. Really helpful for those anatomy studies.
GOOGLE SKETCHUP : LINK
OP: Helpful for making backgrounds! You can generate and build buildings, interiors, etc. I've only used this once way back, but I plan to use this for reference. Helpful for architecture and design.
SKIN TONES? FACE PRACTICE? : I GOTCHU
FANCY HAIR STYLES AND SIDE BURNS? : CHECK IT
OTHER
TWINE : LINK
OP: I've read a few twines and they're all fascinating! It's amazing how creative creators can be when presenting stories through simple text and html. Somewhat interested in trying it out myself.
MY DUMB TUMBLR : SAI TUTORIALS RESOURCES REFERENCES FASHION BRUSHES + whatever else
OP: Tumblr is knows for being the artist hub, so there's lots to gain from there. Unfortunately, I do not want to be anywhere near tumblr, yet gathering more resources is the only tempting reason why I'd return there. If there's someone out there who'd really want me to update it more, maybe i'd log back in. In a whole, that blog is full of helpful things.. along with not so helpful things (dumb things). I have reblogged and tagged many of the posts there though, so if you're looking for something specific just type link + /tagged/whatever-youre-looking for.
Trust me, i've probably tagged it.
DRAWPILE : LINK
OP: Never used it but it functions similar to iscribble - where you and your friends could draw together on a single canvas. Seems to support a lot of other features too.
